Yesterday I was able to connect my new Logitech c920 webcam to my extremely old and decrepid Gateway laptop computer, and download the Adobe Flash Media program all to bring Live Pup Cam right here at redteddypup.com, and it worked!!
It would have taken about an hour had the computer not chosen to crash several times. I honestly thought I would lose it. I even began emailing my extensive collections of drawing and puppy photo files to my gmail account, in preperation for a TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE. But today is a better day, and everything is up and running. If you were at your computer around 7:30est you may have seen the very first moments of live web streaming as the pups woke up for morning playtime.
I owe a big thank you to Michael at Streamhoster. Without his patience and his magical abilities to take over my computer and set everything up, I would still be on step one. While not cheap, Streamhoster has so far been GREAT. Their customer support is fantastic, they answered emails in lightning speed, and when I emailed in for help, Michael actually called me back in, like 5 minutes, and asked me if I could wait an hour while he finished with some other customers. When he called back (after I completed a defrag and tried to get my laptop to behave as if it were not six years old going on sixty) he walked me through the process and, voila! it's as though I actually know what I'm doing! Thankyou Streamhoster!! I recommend them for anyone interested in streaming.
About PupCam, I cannot - yet - keep the process going 24.7. Well, sometimes I need my computer for other things, and also, I can't run both the webcam and the site at the same time due to band width issues. (Michael checked all that, and explained that my local dsl service from Fairpoint Commuications, the only service available out here in the boonies, is a tad slow).
To get around the issue of not taping 24/7, I am offering people who go to watch the puppies the option of emailing me when it is best for them so I can at least know when people are available to watch, and also to get email alerts, so I can send a quick "It's on" email when I start the pupcam. If you want to be included in either of these services, click here for the link to that page: PupCam Alerts
