Retiring Redteddys
Charlie and Sienna!
Charlie is a fun loving 3 month old
male party Poodle puppy.
Charlie was to be a stud but outgrew his predicted size and is too big for our breeding program. He needs to find a forever family before he 'discovers girls'!

Sienna is a 3 year old, fully tested spayed Mini Poodle.
She is the daughter of beloved Toy Poodle mommy Boobles. Sienna is very healthy and a bit timid. She  would prefer to be an only dog in a home where she can keep tabs on the important humans in her life.

Retiring Redteddys come with vet records and up to date vaccines. Prices range from $1000 for intact females
up to  $2000 depending
on age and other factors.
For more information, contact calvinspal@fairpoint with the name of the retiree you are interested in the subject line.

RedTeddy Poodles are healthy, happy animals who live in a loving home with plenty of indoor and outdoor play, eat a wholesome home-made diet and get plenty of play time with humans, other Poodles and larger dogs.
It's worth the wait
The wait for one of our puppies could be several months, a year or more  as you continue your search for the right puppy.
RedTeddies Poodles are hypoallergenic
According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, as much as 10% of the U.S. population is allergic to dogs. While there are no 100% hypoallergenic dogs, the Red Teddy is a one of the breeds that do well with allergy sufferers. Dander, which is attached to pet hair, is what causes most pet allergies in humans and these dogs have a non-shedding coat that produces less dander.
The American Kennel Club and the nys department of agriculture  inspect the redteddy ranch regularly
Picture
We work with both the American Kennel Club (AKC) and  United Kennel Club (UKC). We also breed a few Poodles with no registry, because we think they are excellent Poodles (with breed DNA testing).
Our New York facility is inspected annually by The NYS Department of Agriculture.
We are the real thing: an honest, loving Poodle breeder of integrity!
Do not purchase a puppy from a broker or breeder complicit in the unethical treatment of animals. Unhealthy breeding practices lead to unhealthy puppies and adult dogs.
  • RedTeddy produces well-adjusted animals, free of neurosis or health problems. We invite future RedTeddy families to see what separates RedTeddy from the puppy mills and "backyard breeders."
  • RedTeddies are home-raised in a "pack" with lots of dog and human socialization.
  • They are not kept in cages. They can begin exploring as soon as their eyes are open!
  • We make most of our own dog food, RedTeddy Raw. The main ingredients are locally sourced beef and venison (in season), antibiotic and hormone free chicken and turkey

The wait for a red female Miniature or Toy is about 10 to 16 months.
It is shorter for all other colors and genders!

Oliver says:
"RedTeddies are AKC Toy and Miniature Poodles. Our colors are dark red, cinnamon, cream, and strawberry blond, gold with red highlights, cream with gold highlights, black with red or brown highlights, etcetera-etcetera! Our parent dogs and pups live in country homes with large gardens and plenty of outdoor playtime and I do mean OUTDOOR! We play in the weeds and the flower garden, eatin' the veggies a growin' in the raised beds. We are familiar with chipmunks, squirrels, and worms, just to mention a few friends we got here. Nope: We are not kept in them horrible metal fenced dog runs 'bout six foot by 6 foot, where the grass don't exist no more and there's nothing to play with 'cept your water dish (who plays with a water dish anyway?) Our pups are raised with many other Poodles and also a Fox Red Labrador and a large Golden Doodle, which are like, HUGE, so we ain't afraid a no dog, big or small!"

Become a Future Forever Family

We are looking for families who are settled, have lots of time to give to a pup for the next 12 to 20 years, and who will treasure their RedTeddy as a member of the family.

Why choose Red Teddy?

Picture
Because a good dog begins with a happy, healthy, calm, and affectionate mother, a happy, healthy, calm den environment, a fun and stimulating environment as they get older, including dad - because the father's presence has subtle, positive affects on longterm health and development of all baby animals - making Redteddy the best choice for you and your family.

  1. We have both parents on site
  2. We will help you determine if our Poodles will trigger your allergies
  3. Our parents are tested for inheritable poodle diseases
  4. We want you to have the best possible adult dog
  5. We give each puppy the best possible puppyhood
  6. Redteddy puppies are well socialized
  7. Redteddy puppies play with BIG DOGs.
  8. Redteddy puppies meet all kinds of people
  9. Redteddy puppies know 'freedom' and have puppy adventures
  10. We feed all our dogs a great diet
  11. A mother dog's overall health, diet and attitude has LIFE- LONG affects on the health of her offspring BOTH when she is pregnant and when the puppies are little
  12. Our parent dogs are happy, well behaved, HAPPY animals
  13. Happy parents and a nice, clean, fun environment with places to be safe and places to explore for intelligent puppies
  14. Happy intelligent puppies are easier to train and fit in better with their new families

That's why.

We take raising puppies seriously, (even though they are hilarious most of the time!)
Please check out all the videos and commentary! These are a window into the lives of our puppies.
RedTeddy is a Breeder of Integrity.
Below, and on the other pages at redteddypup.com we tell the story of how we raise our puppies, why we feed the raw diet; how we share responsibility with our adult and adolescent dogs to raise puppies in an extended family atmosphere with plenty of freedom and playtime in all kinds of environments that helps our pups become healthy, smart, curious, people loving and attentive, as well as calm with other animals.

Once we have your application, we will be happy to answer all your questions. We even invite you to visit and meet the parents, (but not during the Covid 19 quarantine). To see if our hypoallergenic Poodles won't trigger a family member's allergies, we can still do allergy visits because they are outdoors, at a local park, wearing masks (the humans, the dogs will be mask - free!) and on long leashes to ensure social distancing.

All natural ingredients

This is what we feed 'em.

Our big dogs, Sparky the Golden Doodle and Sara the Lab, are dinosaurs compared to the little puppies!
They take care not to be too rough, and the pups adore them.

We will read your entries to see if we are a good fit. In some cases we will check your references before we respond. RedTeddy puppies only go to households with loving families that have several hours everyday to spend with their pup for the pup's entire life.

Things to keep in mind

Picture

Assuring a healthy puppy takes commitment, time and effort.

RedTeddy is not a puppy mill.
  • Our pups and adult dogs are not confined. It is more difficult and less profitable to raise puppies humanely than it is to be a puppy mill or a back yard  breeder, breeding for numbers and profit rather than to help create a special, loving pet.
  • Our puppies play inside and out with both parents to enjoy them and help them learn to be good dogs.
  • Puppy mills keep dams and puppies inside all the time, often in small basement kennels or unheated out-buildings cuts down on costs and chores. This allows them to have more puppies and to make more money while doing less work, at the expense of the poor dogs, and at the expense of the potential buyer, who is looking for a healthy, well-adjusted dog.
Do your homework.
  • Do your homework before you commit to purchasing a puppy.
  • If you go to a store that specializes in registered puppy sales, ask to see pedigrees and health certificates for the parent dogs. All reputable breeders have these for their dogs, and be able to  show these to you so that you can be sure there is no inbreeding (repeated parent + offspring or 1st cousin breeding).
  • Good breeders will also test both parents for inheritable genetic diseases and made sure that their knees and hips are good for breeding. These results should also be available to potential buyers.
  • Next, ask where the puppies were born and if it is possible to visit, and if the parents are on site. If not, ask why not. Even during Covid, a breeder can do FaceTime or other way to show you in real-time that their dogs and puppies are well treated.
  • Some pet stores and brokers say they represent good breeders who simply do not want to be bothered by "the public." They may say that they do not want to disturb their animals but is it really that they prefer not to have their "operation" seen? ?
  • Ultimately, the  mother's and father's influence, and the influence of a psychologically healthy pack, has long-term health benefits for puppies.
  • Even the dam's prenatal environment will have a lasting effect of her puppy's lives. Your pup's temperament will be influenced by his or her early environment, as well as by inherited traits. If the parents are friendly, healthy looking, not overly hyper or aggressive, if they are patient with their puppies and don't attack strangers,
  • then the breeder is doing something right.
