Everything is great here, Lola settled in quickly and perfectly -- by the second night she'd managed to climb out of her enclosure in my room, scale my bed and wake me up by curling up on my pillow! She's been great about eating (both her food and my fingers) and has everyone she's met completely in love with her..." |
Dear L, [L. visited Redteddy in July and was worried about a bad experience that she and her partner had recently had when they tried to adopt a rescue dog and failed due to aggression and separation anxiety.]
"Red Teddy Poodles gave me your email address and asked if I would send you a note about my experience with my puppy. I have always had rescue dogs previously and was committed to rescue rather than purchase. My rescue dog, Scout, an enormous husky/shepherd mix, died 3 years ago at age 14.5 and I was pretty devastated. I decided to foster rather than adopt for a while and that worked out pretty well until I was fostering a really sweet little dog and planned to keep him. He was great with me but when my son came home from college, the dog went nuts and growled at him and eventually bit him. I had to take him back. I was heartbroken. The dog I fostered right before him had such bad separation anxiety that she would eat the molding off the wall when I was gone for a few hours. Once she chewed through a mattress. I had to take her back as well.
Fast forward 6 months and I was online cruising poodle and doodle breeders (that's my porn--puppies!! Haha). I thought a poodle would be good because my last dog was part husky and ALL THE HAIR. I didn't want that again. I also thought a small dog would be great so I could take it with me when I travel for work often. I found Red Teddy and communicated with Mary for months before I decided to visit her home. I went back and forth at least 3 times and couldn't make up my mind. When I did, I was so impressed with her dogs-these dogs are unbelievably gorgeous! They are striking but also have incredible personalities. All of them! I thought I would want a red one, but she showed me a little black puppy and I was done--I bought my Sofie in March and I haven't regretted a moment.
This puppy is beautiful-I mean people stop me on the street to comment. Even my vet said, "Wow, this is a beautiful poodle!" She's SO smart--at 6 months she has all her basic commands, walks nicely on a leash and is about 90 % house trained. She loves every human and animal she meets. I am training her to be a therapy dog because she is just this beautiful little positive presence that can help people.
So-long story short, I cannot recommend Mary's puppies enough. Mary herself is lovely and kind and will work with you to make sure you have the right puppy. It took me months of back and forth to make up my mind to get a puppy and Mary never once pressured me. She worked with me to make sure I was 100% happy. She stayed in touch, asked about my puppy and celebrated milestones with me. I can't say enough positive about her and the way she does business.
If you've never had a poodle I can tell you a few things about mine: she has to be groomed every 4-6 weeks, she needs their ears cleaned regularly, she is a very fussy eater and just when I think I have the right food, she stops eating it. She has a sensitive stomach and can't have chicken, which is in almost every dog food. She needs a lot of exercise and loves to run. She's not a posh little prissy dog, she is an athletic, exuberant dog who runs rings around other dogs at the dog park. She is FAST. She was happy in her crate from day one.
Ultimately, I can't convince you to do anything and I get no commission if you buy a puppy but I can day 100% if you want a poodle, get it from Red Teddy. You will not be sorry.
I wish you all the best!"
Amy and Sofie
We recently placed Annie with her family in Brooklyn. She is fitting in remarkably well with the hustle and bustle of city life!
Here is what her family has to say about Their RedTeddy puppy: "Hello from Brooklyn! |
"I wanted you to see how fast she is growing and how well she plays with the cats. We are surprised how helpful it is that they play strenuously and give each other exercise. They run laps around the center stairwell until they all drop from exhaustion. Annie loves to meet everyone who comes to the house. She met my brothers bull terrier and they got along well after getting over the surprise of first seeing each other. Annie sleeps all night in her crate next to me and wakes me up each morning a little after 5. House training is a work in progress but we gain a little ground each day. She knows “come” and “sit” and walks on leash in the yard... She is a smart little girl, loves her toys and notices if there is a new one. She has also figured out that she can sit without being asked and that will sometimes earn a treat. She is very bonded to both of us and is just now starting to venture into other rooms where we are out of sight. I often keep her in the bedroom with me when I get dressed and she disapproves of the shower. Even though she can see me she barks at me anxiously and if that doesn’t work she goes to the door and tries to summon others to help."

"This is a perfect dog raised in a perfect environment. I feel guilty not giving him such good food and play opportunities! He is well worth waiting for! You are the best!" --Gwen J, NYC
"Just wanted to send a quick update now that Archie just turned 1! He really is the sweetest dog (something I’m sure you always hear from Red Teddy owners). He’s learned so many tricks and is incredibly smart. We joke that he is the world’s politest dog because, in a room full of people, he has a way of making every person feel special. Even if he has his favorite humans, he makes sure to greet and pay attention to each person individually by bringing them a toy or by standing on two feet and giving them a hug. Not surprisingly, he charms everyone he meets! We often have guests who come to our house apprehensive about dogs and leave wanting to take Archie with them! I can’t thank you enough for this amazing little guy."

"Hi Mary, I am writing to thank you and give you an update on our redteddy puppy we named Scout. Scout has been a gift to me and the kids at a very difficult time. She is an incredible puppy!!! She is fun, playful, smart and cuddly. She is incredibly friendly - she wants to lick and jump up gently on every person and dog she meets. My son Luke has taught her many tricks and within a few days we broke all the rules I thought we had about her coming upstairs and staying off the furniture. She now sleeps with me or Luke at the foot of the bed and is very cozy to wake up with. The kids all play with her and take her on long walks. She has a few dog friends in the neighborhood too. Everywhere we go people stop and pet her and ask what kind of puppy she is. I hate to leave her alone so I bring her with me everywhere I can. My friends laugh that we are obsessed and are spoiling her, but Scout is well-behaved as well as truly loved. You can rest assured that she is happy in her home and has made a big difference in all our lives. I am grateful you thought of us when she became available last July. I can't imagine what we did before we had her! "

I am writing to let you know that JonnaRed (I named him Chili) is doing very well!!
He already was able to have a good eye contact with me in the car on the way home on Saturday. He seemed little nervous and wasn’t sleeping for an hour or so, then he fell asleep very deeply when we were close to our home. We decided to drive extra so he can have good sleep before arrival. As we arrived home I put him in the playpen and he went potty on the right spot on the peewee pad!! Later he decided the kitchen mat is his potty too, so I put peewee pad over the mat so he can get rewarded every time he goes potty there He’s allowed play freely in the living room and kitchen area now, he goes back to his potties (in his playpen or kitchen) every time he needs to go, smart little boy.
He started to recognize his new name on Sunday. He looks up every time I call his name (so cute!).
On Sunday, we took him to 2 super markets and a mall in the sling. He was very quiet and no one noticed he’s even there, except three people screaming “He’s so cute!!” also when I took him outside yesterday, our apartment’s concierge asked me “Is it a real dog?!”
He enjoys eating raw food and I gave him raw chicken wing bone yesterday and he loved it too!
I successfully introduced comb to him using Oma’s pride treat I bought from you. Now he associates grooming time as a treat time! Every time I have comb in my hand he responds happily! He falls asleep as I comb his hair. I am very happy with this because my daughter and I are planning to have fun giving him nice hair styles!
Also Debi, thank you so much for taking time to write detailed food recipe. The information helps a lot!!
And yes, as you mentioned in the note, It is easy to find chicken liver, but it’s little difficult to find tripe and other organs. But! As an Asian I know one thing, it is easy to find organs in Chinese or Korean market I’m a Japanese so I don’t know what they use them for, but we stopped by a Korean market and found beef kidney and tripe, also chicken foot and necks. Just thought to share so you could tell your clients in the future if they have trouble finding them.
Okay, I wrote too long! Thank you so much for giving us opportunity to live with this smart beautiful creature. I can not believe it’s only been just 3 days. I am attaching some pictures and will send you more as he grows. Thank you! -- A.Y.
Hi, hard to believe I've only had Rosie who I renamed to Ginger Spice :) for only 5 months now. She's brought so much joy into my families, friends, strangers and most importantly my life and I can't imagine life without her. I've attached a pdf with a bunch of pics of her from the past couple of months. And I have more pics and videos over on instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/missgingerspice/
I love that her love for me is unconditional. I love that she follows me around wherever I go. I love her excited dance she does when she greets me after work. I love that she loves everyone she meets and will shower them with kisses/licks. I love that she likes to snuggle up next to me if I'm reading or on the computer. I love taking her out in public because it's like having a little celebrity in tow, strangers are always coming up to meet her.
I love it when she tries to wake me up in the morning by dragging all her toys onto my bed and proceeds to squeak/ play with them (even though it's a bit annoying ;) I love when she roll over so you can rub her belly and make her little playful growling noises if you stop. I love that she's so inquisitive and curious and loves watching & barking at the turkeys that come onto our property.
I love seeing her play and run outside with her other dog friends big and small, she is pure happiness when she's running and jumping around. She even plays nicely with my friends greyhound. I love her for the lessons she's teaching me about responsibility, loyalty, being present, and playful. And lastly I love her for allowing me to be her dog mom and provide her with her forever home.
The first couple of weeks with her were rough especially with the crate training, but she has proved to be a quick and patient learner and has become pretty obedient. Except lately I think her adolescent stage is starting to kick in so she's regressing a little bit in her training. So I guess I have to prepare myself for her teenage years :) ---Kyleen H, MA
"Pippi is a perfect puppy!! As you know, I wasn't as ready as I should have been--and my cats certainly weren't ready--but we all survived the first weeks of having a new baby in the house, and now, at 10 months, Pippi is a dream of a dog. She is super smart and very obedient--people think I actually brought her somewhere to be trained because she listens so well. It's like she reads my mind! She is a joy to me every day! She gets me out of the house every morning; I feel more fit than I have in ages! She is a wonderful companion in the evenings, curled up with me on the couch (or snuggled in bed with me). ;) And even the cats are getting used to her. Maybe when she doesn't move as quickly, they will be able to appreciate her more fully. She is fast as heck, bouncy, prancing, and very acrobatic--and so much fun!--and EVERYONE WHO MEETS HER LOVES HER!! Of course, I love her the most! And the love I feel from her in return is ridiculous. Poodles are a very special breed. Thank you, Mary." Eileen O., NY, 10/2018 |
I just wanted to send you a note (and pictures) about Stanley and how much we are loving having him as part of our family. Stanley is the sweetest, smartest little guy! He has added so much joy to our life and to those around us. He is a show stopper on the streets of Manhattan and brings a smile to everyone who passes by. He loves Central Park, although not quite sure of the horses yet! He is very loving and likes to snuggle right between Eric and I on the couch. he also has a feisty side which shows more of his personality. We love each and every part of him. Although we don't know Blaze and Leo that well, from the time we spent with them, he reminds us very much of Leo. He currently weighs 8 pounds at 5 months. He is thin, long, and tall. We try to keep him active, but also enjoy our nap time. He seems to have adjusted quite well to our lifestyle. He doesn't quite love his crate quite yet, but we are hopeful he will realize that this is safe place while we are not at home. That said, he has adjusted well to the crate, he just doesn't go in unless we prompt him to.
We are still feeding him raw food and he seems to like it very much. We have never had a problem with him eating at all. After using your raw, we have transitioned to OC Raw Dog, which he really likes. We are also using the vitamins you recommended. The Vet says his is a very healthy boy and just loves seeing him. We had two sessions with a trainer who also commented that he was one of the best, smartest little puppies she has seen.
We are so grateful to have Stanley with us and look forward to many more years of loving him. --Dawn B, NYC
"I hope that you've been well since we last saw you when picking up our poodle back in June. Aviva and I have fallen deeply in love with our "young Bebop" and I thought it would be nice to provide a few recent photos and a brief update/observations.
1 - She has a perfect temperament. Bebop exhibits all of the best traits and has gone beyond our expectations in every way. She will be wild and fun at the dog park on out on a run, but calm and snuggly when it is time to read a book in bed. She doesn't mind the regular baths and grooming. She gets along with dogs of all sorts and people too. Babies, toddlers, teenagers, adults and the elderly. Bebop shows unbridled love without discrimination. We have had zero problems with her and people (unless the person is on a skateboard...)
2 - She's a TROOPER. Bebop loves long walks with me. Yesterday we did a journey that was close to 10 miles. Upon our return home, you'd think she would want to pass out for the evening. Well, we had a toddler over and they ended up playing for another hour. Whew!!! The Bopper is always up for an adventure, just like me. We've taken her on wooded hikes, to the beach (she loves it!), into salt water pools, heck, even to Times Square once (not too fun). She's ready for whatever life can offer.
3 - People stop me on the street ALL THE TIME to ask about her. 90% offer their opinion that she must be a "golden doodle", to which I am always happy to surprise them with "nope, miniature poodle". It is so fun to watch people's faces as I walk her around. It can turn even the grumpiest mood right around. Everyone seems to remark about her looooong (& beautiful) legs!
4 - She's SO SMART! Bebop has mastered all of the "basics" - sit, stay, come, shake/paw, etc. Now I'm teaching her how to get specific toys (ball vs rope toy) and even how to "dance". She's probably ready to learn sign language now, but alas, I might not be smart enough to keep up with her.
I guess that's about it for now. She's almost 10 months, very much a "puppy", but I can't even wait to know what she's going to become when she "grows up" to become a dog.
Thank you again, for raising such a wonderful animal. She is of the highest quality that one could ask for in a canine companion and we love her so."
The Buivid Family, January 2017
Hi Mary! Amber is 12 weeks. She is a happy, healthy and adventurous pup. She is just as amazing as you said she would be. We love her to pieces. Potty training is going very well, night times are better and she knows sit, down and come. -- The Vergati family, January 2017
I have to tell you, everywhere we go, everyone he meets just absolutely falls in love with him. We have had people come to the house just to see him! We have a neighbor across the street that has come to ask to take him for walks. He is such a little stinker....he knows he is something special, let me tell you! I am sure to always tell people where we got him from and about Red Teddy Poodles! I have never seen a dog draw in as much attention as he does. I'm sure you hear it all the time, but I am so glad we found you. --Elizabeth A. Fall, 2016
Andrew and I cannot say thank you enough! Our puppy (now named Lobster) is absolutely the sweetest little dog in the world. She loves everyone, she is so smart, she is so playful, and is just perfect in every way. We could not be happier with the addition to our family. We really give you credit for raising such a balanced dog. It is clear that she has experienced nothing but love from the time she was born.
We are truly thankful for all that you did. --Megan & Andrew, NJ Fall, 2016
She's been the greatest puppy in the world, and she makes the both of us incredibly happy... I've recommended you to people who have asked about Waffle (she's becoming quite famous around the city) and I'm so glad we met!
--Sherry, Brooklyn, NY
I wanted to let you know that we LOVE MILA!! She checked out 100% at vet. Very much a cuddle baby and very very sweet. Thank you for work as a breeder to provide such wonderful dogs !!!! -- Patricia, NY
Copper recently turned 5 months and I can't tell you how much we all love him. He is the cutest guy, plays fetch, and gets stopped in the park all the time. People never believe he is a poodle. He truly has become a member of the family, I never thought I could fall in love with a dog. Victoria hates going to school cause she misses being with him. He has such a great personality, he lets Victoria carry him as much as she wants. Thank you so much for everything! --Elaine, NYC summer, 2016
Teddy is doing very well! He is such a charmer! We are totally in love with him! --E & J, NY 2016
Oliver is going great!!! He loves hiking and playing with his friends Leo the lab and Koko who resembles more of a horse than a dog ( lol).
He's pure joy!! We love him so much!! --MG, NY 2016
Fuego is the most perfect dog...Thank you again for all the love and great care you have given to Fuego. -- RR, NJ 2016
Our pup is amazing - so smart, well adjusted, relaxed. we are so happy we found you. Thank you again! -- NP, NJ 2016
I'm sure you have heard from other owners just how many compliments we get from strangers when taking our beautiful red teddies out and about and Rossini is no different. But more than her good looks, I am just delighted with her temperament. She is curious, friendly, and playful but she is so calm it is almost surreal. She has none of that puppy "wired" quality I expected. She doesn't bark much at all, except in play, and after a nice play session, she is always ready to take a nap and have a snuggle. She rides in a bag on the subway and NYC buses without complaint and she came to my office yesterday and didn't make a peep for the 2 hours I was meeting with a new client. She has already learned to do well by herself for 2-3 hours in the mornings when I go to the office. I'm attaching my favorite photo of her recent visit to my pottery studio where she just sat (and later lay down on) a pottery wheel for 15 minutes without any whining, barking, squirming, etc. We are reliably doing "sit," "lie down" and I've got her part way into "stay." "Roll over" is not interesting for her yet. All in all, she is a fantastic dog! -- JF, Brooklyn NY 2015
This little guy is my heart. he is such a good dog. Never thought I would transition from a Labrador Retriever to Miniature Poodle. He is such a great dog. -- Susan about Finn, NJ 2014
Thank you for responsibly breeding healthy, socialized, intelligent, and beautiful red poodles. --Amy S
Chops turns three years old today. He is a true blessing! Here he is this morning on his special day. Chops and Coco [our 2 year old Redteddy] are great friends and it is so much fun to watch them romp. We really love our beautiful pups. --NEO
Today Rosie is 3 years old and continues to amaze me. She allows me to live with her and not the other way around. She is like a very smart toddler and follows a set pattern of habits. Again, I want to thank you, and Tasha and Leo for producing a wonderful puppy. She is the light of my life and provides me with something new every day. Hope all is well with you and continued success with your poodle population. --TM
After just 3 weeks being part of the clan, Beckster has already embedded himself into the fabric (literally and figuratively) of our family! He has been seen by the vet (also our family) twice and is thriving. He has gained weight and is eating a combination of kibbles and raw food 3x/day. He gets ample treats in between for going on the wee wee pad (still too cold to venture out) and he’s pretty much got the wee wee pad training down. Yeah for Beckster! Yeah for us! He also gets rewarded for “Beckster Come” and we are working on “Sit” and “Stay.” He loves all his new toys and does have favorites. With some he likes to play tug of war. His skunk is his favorite fuzzy friend and we have photos to bribe him with in his later years as he “dominates” the play thing over and over again. LOL. He also loves to “go fetch” with miniature tennis balls. Once retrieving the balls he runs back to and pounces into our laps for us to throw the ball again, and again, and again! His favorite spot is the space between ones’ legs when they are sitting indian style. He fits perfectly! He also loves to be held and snuggled and often falls asleep on us when he’s mellowed. He has a crate in our bedroom and he has been giving us almost 6 hrs. of uninterrupted rest at night. He is playful, loving, eager to please and an all around happy little boy! Mary, we could not be happier with our new addition. He is loved by all… our sons, their girlfriends, extended family, and even all those in the animal hospital who lovingly pass him around so that each and every one of them can give him snuggles. We are so happy that we chose a RedTeddyPup, and this pup in particular (funny how things work out) and so grateful that you chose us to be his forever family. Give Tasha an extra pat on the back for doing and rearing such an exceptional “baby.” I hope we’re doing her proud. Hugs for the rest of the gang too. We’ll continue to update you on our beloved Beckster!
He is a joy and a “mush” and a snuggle-bug and rascal all wrapped into one teeny tiny bundle of sweetness. We ALL adore him. He is making a wonderful adjustment to his new home and family and has acquired many admirers already as family and friends have come by to welcome him to the neighborhood and clan. Most bring gifts. Beckster has many new toys and a new bed... I propped the bed against the sofa at first for support until he discovered that he could prop himself up on the edge of the bed and springboard himself onto the sofa! So, I moved the bed further away from the sofa. Beckster grabbed the bed with his teeth and attempted to drag the bed, which is 10 times the size of him, back toward the sofa so that he could do it again! Smart, smart, smart. He has also come to enjoy his carry case as he now knows he is leaving with us when it! He is a happy boy who is bringing much love and laughter to our home and he is being showered with much love and care in return. Your testaments to the type of dog you are breeding is truthful, perhaps even understated. We could not have asked for a more wonderful puppy. --R & L Long Island, NY
Today she is 2 years old and as beautiful, smart and clever as ever. She has evolved from the dark red puppy to a very light apricot in color, but I still love her dearly. She has all my habits down pat & is always ahead of me in doing anything. She loves to ride in her car seat in the car and is as nosy as can be. Once again, thank you for the best poodle I have ever owned, and I've owned quite a few over the years. --MT, New York
Rosie and I send our congratulations to Tasha and Leo on their new brood. The lucky new owners of the puppies are in for a wonderful experience. Rosie has surpassed smart to intelligent. After owning poodles for 60 years I can honestly say Rosie is the smartest, most wonderful poodle I have ever owned. Keep up the good work! --NY
Madigan could not be more beautiful! She is also a real lap dog and follows me like a shadow. She fit in well with the other dogs, initiates play with them and right now, she is running the house. No accidents in the house, so far. She goes out with the other dogs and is catching on to the routine quickly. No one but someone who has a RedTeddy would be able to explain how fantastic they are! Madigan's spirit, beauty, intelligence and sense of humor are all there in the right proportions. I've had over a dozen poodles in my life, but she is spectacular. You can tell the love and devotion that has gone into raising her. The value of keeping her with her parents and litter is evident in how well adjusted and confident she is and has been since the day I brought her home. --MH, NY

I have never seen a dog create so much good energy. He is unbelievably loving. He is a very , very good and well behaved boy. So easy to train. --Jamie, L.I. NY January, 2013
Now that Rosie is 6 months old I thought I'd give you an update on her. SHE RULES THE ROOST!!! She is the quickest, smartest and most loved of all the poodles I've owned... Did I mention she is outrageously beautiful? Everyone who sees her their first comment is how beautiful she is. --Dutchess County, NY January, 2013
I highly recommend Red Teddy Poodles! This is my first dog and she has exceeded my expectations immensely! Beetle has been with us 4 months now. We picked her up as a puppy. From the moment we got her, she has been such a joy. She is easily trained and interacts well with our cats and children. She rarely barks and enjoys long car rides. She is absolutely perfect! We are constantly being stopped by strangers commenting how beautiful and friendly she is. Mary was very helpful during our process and continues to be available for questions. I strongly recommend RED TEDDY POODLES! --Kristen, NJ 7/11/12
Teddy may be the best dog I have ever had!! He is a bundle of energy. Very gregarious, not the least shy, loves EVERYONE – a real clown and show-off. Virtually everyone on the street stops us to say how adorable, beautiful, he is, and want to pet him – he obliges, agreeably. He is also admired for his beautiful color and black eyes - he had to be named “Teddy”! --C.L., Oneonta, NY
Just letting you know she is doing great! I could not ask for a smoother transition into the family. She truly is a perfect dog!....People are constantly asking us where we got her.... --K.W-J, NYC
He is a treasure. Maybe there's a more perfect dog out there (probably one of yours!), but Louie would definitely qualify for first runner up! --J. P. & family, Albany, NY
