If you need to check for allergies we can set up an allergy visit. Once you are confident that we are the right choice for your future puppy mail in the non-refundable puppy deposit. Personal checks and USPS postal money orders are fine for the deposit. If you need to use an online money exchange option, for example, if you are not located in the United States, contact us first. When we receive your deposit, we will send an email confirmation and place you on the wait list in order (based on stamp cancellation). Final payments on puppy pick up day are cash or USPS Money Orders only. Your nonrefundable deposit guarantees the next available pup fitting your preference for sex, size and color, and fitting your family dynamics. We chose the pup for each family. Sometimes pups are available who might not exactly meet your particular preferences. When yours is the next name on the waiting list, we will contact you regardless, to see if you are interested but you may always wait without losing your place in line. SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
Puppies come first
Puppies come first: we will never knowingly place a puppy into a family that is not suitable for each other. We have a lot of opportunities to watch our pups as their personalities develop. If we have a puppy who fits physical preferences but is not a good match with a family's dynamic even if this decision is just based on intuition, we will wait for a pup that is better for your family. All pups are adorable and deserve great homes, but all puppies are not born equal! Behaviors
Some need more time to get used to new situations; others are ready to dive right in. Characteristics that are apparent at a few weeks of age linger in adult dogs. Nipping and biting (not teething/mouthing) are fear-based behaviors. A puppy that is a little shy can be predisposed to such behaviors when they are afraid. A household full of loud, active children may overwhelm such a puppy; the same family would be a great fit for a puppy with a more carefree or outgoing personality. Fear/aggressive behavior is sometimes an effective strategy for the pup (it works for the pup by making the scary thing--like your hand, for example--go away). So it is important that we learn about our puppies while they are here, observing their behavior in different situations, alone and in groups, to ensure that each pup goes to the family that is right for them. Transportation is an option
While it is preferable to pick up your puppy at our Upstate New York location, if this is difficult or impossible, we can meet you at the Albany NY airport (preferred), JFK, La Guardia or Newark airports - fees apply. If you need your puppy delivered to your home we will put you in touch with a highly qualified and very responsible puppy delivery person we trust to take care of our RedTeddy puppies. puppy pickup letter
When your puppy is 8 weeks , the optimal time for real training to start, he/she will go to his or her forever home! We will email you the Puppy Pick Up Letter approximately three weeks before your puppy is old enough to leave. In the letter, we will go over everything you should know or what you may want to consider purchasing to have when your puppy comes home. The Puppy Pick up Letter will include the final payment balance and ways to pay. |

Going home is a vastly important event in the life of your future RedTeddy puppy
Puppies leave for their forever families between their eight week birthday plus two days, maximum. All puppies are ready to learn from about age five weeks, and at eight weeks, they are not only ready to learn, they are anxiously searching for the human leader of their pack. Age eight weeks is a crucial turning point - at this point they are much more interested in people than even playing with their absolute best K-9 friend. If left with a pack for too long they will choose dogs over people as their leaders. The only exceptions we ever make for this policy are for the very small Toy Poodle puppy, who due to size and development should stay with mommy longer. |
